Mobile App Creation for the Digital Crypto Asset Market: Vadi

Vadi is a Web3 platform that aims to democratize access to private capital in Latin America, allowing startups and microenterprises to tokenize their assets and connect with a community of investors committed to regional development.

The project involved designing a mobile app that allows users to interact with the Vadi ecosystem in a practical and secure way. The app integrates essential features such as onboarding with identity verification (KYC), buying and operating tokens, deposits, transfers, and access to a marketplace for investing in projects. It also provides detailed information on each token, all within a user-centered experience.

Research Objectives

The research focused on understanding the profile and needs of two types of users: investors and entrepreneurs. We aimed to identify their level of familiarity with the crypto environment, as well as the barriers and expectations when interacting with an app of this type.

We also explored key flows, such as onboarding, token purchasing, and marketplace navigation, to ensure they were clear, secure, and accessible even for those with no prior experience in Web3.

Methods

The research phase was led by the UX team, who conducted interviews and comparative analysis with similar platforms in the crypto space. Although I did not directly participate in this stage, I used the findings as a foundation to structure the flows, wireframes, and interface design of the app.

Key findings

Among the most relevant learnings was the need for a guided and clear experience during onboarding, especially for users with little familiarity with the crypto ecosystem. It was also identified that providing transparency in the information of each token, as well as simplifying the processes for buying, depositing, and transferring with clear and well-explained steps, was crucial.

Creation process

Based on the research findings, I created a simplified flow of steps to place an order. The navigation was redesigned so that users could complete the purchasing process in three clear and direct steps.
After several tests with the initial wireframes, we adjusted the flow to include a visual progress bar to help users understand what stage they were in.

Prototype design

The process began with an intensive benchmarking phase, thoroughly exploring various crypto and fintech apps to identify patterns, best practices, and visual improvement opportunities. This exploration was key to defining different ways to approach the interface and ensure a functional yet visually appealing experience.

From there, a complete design system was developed, with consistent components, typographic styles, measurements, and structures for all screens. The visual universe of the brand was also explored, adapting the color palette, graphic elements, and integrating 3D illustrations that added personality without overwhelming the interface.

The entire design was conceived to guide the user through an environment that, although technical, felt clear and accessible.

During development, multiple iterations and tests were conducted with a diverse range of user profiles, from beginners to more experienced users in the crypto environment.

These sessions allowed us to identify areas of confusion, validate the clarity of the flows, and improve key interface elements. The iterative approach helped refine both visual and functional details, ensuring a more intuitive and accessible experience for all levels of familiarity.

Results and learnings

Although my experience in the crypto sector was limited at first, this became a strength during the process. It allowed me to approach the design from a perspective closer to that of new users, which was key to creating much more intuitive and accessible flows.

Throughout the project, I gained a better understanding of the logic and complexity of the ecosystem, which allowed me to translate technical processes into clear and organized visual experiences. Without a doubt, it was one of the most challenging projects, but also one of the ones that helped me grow the most as a designer.
